Helena Schultheis Edgeler (Zagreb, 1972) is a Croatian visual artist whose work spans painting, video and animation. For over three decades, she has exhibited extensively both in Croatia and internationally, with equal commitment to large-scale figurative oil paintings and experimental film. Her animated film was featured at Animafest Zagreb, and her paintings have been shown at major platforms such as the Croatian Painting Biennale. Working at the intersection of classical technique and digital innovation, she often uses AI-generated visual prompts as a departure point for traditional media. Her recent cycle Deus Machina explores the symbolic and ethical tensions between human consciousness and artificial systems, employing a distinctive figurative idiom charged with philosophical inquiry. Schultheis Edgeler’s works have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and are recognized for their complexity, allusiveness, and emotional density, often blurring boundaries between historical memory and speculative futurism.
